At Western Sullivan Chess, our mission is to provide a welcoming and inclusive community where members can connect, have fun, and play Chess. We strive to create a safe and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected, can learn or practice the game at their own pace, and to hone their skills with both Local and Online competition.

There is no fee to join the club, hang out, and play across the board in pick-up games. However, tournament play requires membership in U.S. Chess and playing rated games will incur a small fee (~ $1/game) payable to U.S. Chess.

Senior Citizens - if you are 65+ years old and have a Medicare Advantage or Supplemental policy that has the RenewActive or OnePass programs, your U.S. Chess membership fees are reimbursable through US Chess's partnership with Grouper.

Students - All children and their parents are eligible for a free basic membership with ChessKid.com.

Additionally, any student in grades K-12 who actively participates for three months will be eligible for a gifted affiliate membership to U.S. Chess.

The Western Sullivan Public Library system - biggest of the big shout-outs to WSPL, without whom we would be playing outside in the snow and rain. Support your local library! Visit them at wsplonline.org.
